We get many questions from homeowners about HVAC systems. Most probably, you also have some of the same issues. To help you understand and take better care of your HVAC system, we’ve listed some of the most common questions we’ve been asked along with their answers.
How often should I change my HVAC system filter?
For optimum efficiency and filtration, you should replace your disposable filters every month. If your system uses washable filters, ensure you clean them once a month.
What can I do to increase my HVAC system’s efficiency and lifespan?
Make sure you clean or replace your filters regularly. Perform regular maintenance on your system. It’s easy to forget about maintaining your system. Fortunately, you can sign a maintenance agreement with an HVAC company to ensure your system gets the service it needs at the right time.
Why should I replace my existing heating or cooling system?
You should consider replacing your current system if it’s old, inefficient or needs frequent repairs. Modern systems are more efficient than older systems. Your installer can help you determine the annual energy savings you’ll enjoy before you make a purchase decision. Today’s systems also come with additional benefits like quiet operation and more comprehensive warranties.
How often does my HVAC equipment need to be serviced?
Ideally, your HVAC equipment should be checked and serviced twice – once in the spring before the cooling season and once in the fall before the heating season.
What size of HVAC unit do I need?
There’s no rule of thumb for sizing a new unit to your home. The only way to ensure you buy a properly sized unit is by having a licensed professional come to your home and perform a load calculation.
